Blue Jays reward Romero with five-year extension

08/14/2010 - Anaheim, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday signed starting pitcher Ricky Romero to a five-year contract extension for $30.1 million with a club option for 2016.

The left-hander is 9-7 with a 3.53 earned-run average over 23 games for Toronto this season. He also has pitched three complete games this year.

Romero, selected by the Blue Jays with the sixth overall pick in the 2005 draft, has compiled a 22-16 record with a 3.94 ERA in 52 contests.
